A Little Light Blogging for August 5th

And a little late blogging too.

Another of those frustrating starts to a week that had at the beginning of it seemed so “open”!

This time our kitchen fridge freezer has decided not to cooperate, and started clicking at us, and then defrosting! Puddles on the floor and we dont have a dog!

Yes, my guess is that the motor has stopped starting!! And of course, the company who insures it no longer has real people to answer the phone!

After hours of hanging on you are forced to use there “online facility”. Of course, if one had actually been able to speak to a human being (in English or something approximating to it) it would have been easy to do, (yes it IS insured), but, having been warned that “we do not accept rudeness) by the mechanical voice, which is making you furious in the first place, you resort to their online system. That doesn’t understand because your problem isn’t one recognised by there system. In the end you book an appointment for a service engineer for more than a week away!! Said service engineer then texts you for the model and serial number of your machine (one of the things the online system didn’t understand you couldn’t tell them because it’s an in built fridge freezer and the numbers are hidden!!).

Then you turn to finding ways of preserving your fridge items. Freezer? You may remember we have a new one in the outhouse as the previous one went awol last month!

Now this is where Facebook came into its own. Our residents group has got me a fridge, on loan, delivered by hand, wonderful!

So having wasted 36 hours, I will now tell you that at the Hedsor Bar this week, starting at 8pm we have Stuart Henderson on trumpet with Frank Walden on tenor sax.

This is a session you should not miss, it will be wonderful bebop. I hope to be there too, but if anyone can remember the date, 65 years ago on that date I got married!!

Last week we had a really wonderful session with Duncan Lamont Jr with a really lovely singer Sarah Jane Eveleigh. Memories are made of such sessions, and I hope we can recreate it for all of you who missed it. Some of my memories of it are stored in the photos I took, and one or two of those are below.

Have a great week, perhaps mine can now get better!!
